Description
General Specs: Francotte, Year 1930, .410 Gauge, 5lbs., Chokes M/F, LOP 14 7/16″, DAH 2 1/2″, DAC 1 3/8″ Serial Number: 273 Auguste Francotte is world famous as a high-quality firearms maker from the gun making center of Leige, Belgium dating back as far as 1805. Making fine shotguns into the 21rst Century with price tags topping out at over $100,000, Francotte is a brand recognized and used by heads of state, business tycoons, and in some cases, the fortunate “Average Joe”. This fine Francotte is a very rare find, a boxlock ejector gun with 28 ¼” barrels and an English gripped stock of nicely figured French walnut. Built in 1930 with a 3-digit serial number 273, the gun is in superb condition, with 99% barrel and trigger guard blue, the action toned to an attractive soft silver with clear lettering and a small amount of engraving, and the beautiful walnut stock having a superb hand-rubbed oil finish with sharp checkering surrounded by a mullered border and terminating with a horn buttplate. The long barrels have excellent bores, are tight on the hinge pin and breech face, and are Birmingham proofed for heavy 2 ½” loads (3 ¼ ton proofs). Ammunition is readily available all over the internet with No. 7 ½, 8, and 9 shot…perfect for quail and woodcock or breaking clay targets. Choked M/F some experts might even take larger birds and rabbits with this fine gun. See the specifications below. The gun weighs just 5lbs. and balances ¼” ahead of the hinge pin, a truly dynamic handling gun from one of the best Belgium gun makers. I just scanned the internet and there isn’t even one other available for sale, especially with 28” barrels and ejectors. If you like peewee shotguns, don’t miss out on this fine little Francotte. Thanks for looking.
