Description
General Specs: AyA, Year c1961, 20 Gauge, 5lbs. 13oz., Chokes SK/LM, LOP 14 9/16″, DAH 2 1/8″, DAC 1 1/2″ Serial Number: 148828 The AYA Nº 2 SIDELOCK is the pre-eminent “affordable” sidelock double gun, and the most famous model in the AYA line. Since its introduction in the late 1950s, tens of thousands of Nº 2’s have been sold in the United Kingdom, the United States, and everywhere that shooters value the superb balance and handling characteristics of a fine double gun. Mechanically, the Nº 2 is identical to the Nº 1, AyA’s flagship best model. Like the Nº 1, it was originally modeled on the time-tested Holland & Holland system. When looking at “BEST GUN” features, the AyA No. 2 has them all, and wraps them up in a very well made, well respected, affordable gun. Features like finely struck chopper-lump barrels, full coverage hand engraved sculpted action with beaded fences, detachable sidelocks, removable firing pin bushings, long-tang trigger guard with rolled right edge, finely figured European walnut stocked to the fences with drop-points, hand-checkered stocks with mullered borders all combine to make a very elegant gun. This gun was built in 1961 and remains in excellent condition, with 99% deep rust blue on the barrels, 96% blue on the trigger guard, traces of bone and charcoal on the action, and a hand-rubbed oil finish on the wood. YES, THERE ARE TWO NOTABLE DARK MARKS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BUTTSTOCK. THEY CANNOT BE REMOVED WITHOUT FULLY RESTORING THE WOOD. The price reflects this flaw. The gun is mechanically excellent with the 26” barrels choked SK/LM, still tight on the hinge pin and breech face, the ejectors strong and well timed, trigger pulls crisp…all in superb condition. Weighing just 5LBS. 13OZ. and balanced perfectly between the hands, you could not ask for a nicer gun for your upland pursuits or forays on the sporting clays course. A better grouse cover gun you could not wish for; quick to shoulder, points like a dream, and no trouble in the deadfalls and thickets that the northern grouse and woodcock love to habituate. Would make a lightning-fast quail gun for you southern Bobwhite gentleman, or a handy pheasant gun for hunting behind pointing breeds. We have priced this gun to sell so please don’t hesitate to call or she will be gone! You can see all the specifications below. Thanks for looking.
