Fox guns are seen in B Grades, C Grades, and even the beautiful X Grade often enough, but the D Grade is quite rare. The DE Grade Fox we show here, sn7904 built in 1908, is an awesome example of the elegant early style DE engraving pattern and is a RARE EXAMPLE OF A FACTORY 2-BARREL SET BUILT IN 1908 DURING THE FIRST 2 YEARS OF A.H. FOX GUN CO. PRODUCTION. There are no factory records on sn7904. By careful, expert observation it is easy to determine both sets of barrels were produced by the factory, though set #2 was produced at a later date. Both sets have: their own forend assembly with identical machining and checkering, the early ejector system used prior to 1910, reinforced forend lugs on the Krupp Steel barrels, both sets are #1 weight, nearly identical engraving, no sign of work by outside gunsmiths. Set No. 1, the original set, has the serial number engraved on the barrel flat in identical fashion as on the action. Set No. 2 serial number is stamped as later guns were, and the forend iron is factory engraved on the underside, another factory trait. I am certain any astute Fox expert will agree by reviewing the detailed photos. THIS IS A FACTORY 2-BARREL SET, GUARANTEED. The metal on this Fox DE has been expertly restored, the forends are factory original, the buttstock has been replaced to historical correctness. Barrel set #1 is 30” M/F, set #2 is 28” SK/LM, both have mirror shiny bores (see specifications below), and both are tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face. The action has 97% proper bone and charcoal case colors, excellent screws, all in excellent working order with the top lever to the right of center with either set of barrels. We have made this a VFI CERTIFIED GUN with the Ultrasonic cleaning, stripping the action and forend irons to their smallest parts to clean all old oil and grub from the metal, inspecting all parts for function and integrity, lubricating all properly, and reassembling. This is a $575 service in our shop. VFI Certified guns carry a 90-day mechanical warranty. VFI GUNSMITHS HAVE LENGTHENED THE CHAMBERS TO 2 ¾” AND EXTENDED THE FORCING CONES TO 1 ½” TAPERS SO THAT YOU CAN SHOOT MODERN 2 ¾” FIELD LOADS THROUGH THIS GUN. This is a $440 service in our shop. Now you can enjoy your Fox shotgun in the field or at the traps with better patterns, notably reduced felt recoil, and assurance all is in working order. The scarcity and the inherent beauty of a Fox DE Grade makes them highly sought after and therefore more costly than common guns. LOOK CLOSELY AT THE SPECS BELOW. REVIEW THE PHOTOS. WHEN HAVE YOU EVER SEEN RABBITS ON THE SIDE OF A FOX GUN? THIS IS A GREAT GUN! We have priced this DE Grade 2-barrel set below market, making it a very strong investment that will go up in value as you enjoy its use. The versatility created by two sets of barrels will cover all your shotgun needs for field or the clays course. We have custom fit a case to this gun (barrels and action can’t move within the case), with Fox trade label and all accessories, and leather reinforcement at all wear points, a $1800 value. Don’t miss this opportunity to own a truly HIGH-GRADE A.H. FOX DE GRADE GUN. Thanks for looking!
