A.H. Fox Gun Co. was the last to introduce a single barrel trap gun to the market near the end of 1919. A very stoutly built gun with special attention to chamber, bore, and choke, they have a reputation of throwing outstanding patterns and breaking birds with the best of even modern-day guns. There were just 581 Fox SBT’s made in all grades, most of them as J Grades. THERE WERE ONLY 75 MADE IN THE HIGHER “K GRADE” WITH ORNATE FLORAL AND VINE ENGRAVING, RICHLY FIGURED WALNUT WITH RIBBON ADORNED CHECKEREING, AND ONLY ONE LIKE THIS ONE. That is a very low number indeed. and as such, a great investment in a fine trap gun that will hold its own against all comers at the trap line! This K Grade, sn400503 built as a Philly gun, is in superb FACTORY ORIGINAL UNTOUCHED CONDITION AND IS ONE-OF-A-KIND WITH ITS FACTORY MONTE CARLO STOCK AND DOCUMENTED FULL PISTOL GRIP WITH UNIQUE CULR AND SHAPE. 32” Chromox Fluid Steel barrel measuring full choke with an excellent shiny bore, 67 thousandths minimum wall thickness, factory over-bored at .735 bore diameter, 99% factory blue, 2 3/4” chamber, and double beads still intact. The barrel is still tight on the breech face and hinge pin with the top lever right of center. The action retains 70% vivid factory case color, the beautiful engraving still sharp and crystal clear. The trigger breaks clean at 2.9lbs. pull and the ejector is timed. The trigger guard is case colored and the outside is worn to mostly a pleasing silver, with strong case color on the inside. The trigger guard bow is engraved with the name “Doug Dougherty”. We haven’t taken the time to research the name but he may be someone famous…who knows? The wood is factory original and described in detail on the factory order card and every detail still matches the card. The wood is richly figured European walnut with 98% of the original factory finish and only light handling marks. This gun shipped with a factory Silvers pad. So few of these guns exist in such HIGH FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION that guns like this bring a high premium dollar when they come up for sale. It could be decades before you see a gun with such unique features and high condition that hasn’t been altered or restored in any way. These guns were made to shoot and will literally compete with the finest trap gun produced, now or then. The choke taper is 3 ¾” long and produces extraordinary patterns. With such a low number made and an ever-increasing interest in A.H. Fox guns made in Philadelphia, these guns continue to gain value as you enjoy their use. The opportunity to buy a SBT in a K Grade is rare indeed, so don’t hesitate! See the specifications below. Thanks for looking.
