General Specs: Parker, 1912, 16 Gauge, 6lbs. 9oz., Chokes M/F, LOP 14 1/2″, DAH 2 5/8″, DAC 1 5/8″ Serial Number: 158832
The Parker Grade 2, or GH Grade, is the first in the Parker line up with the more interesting “game scene” engraving. The wood is nicely figured on the GH grade and the checkering more detailed. For the shooter that wants a representative example of a Parker bird gun that can be taken afield and done affordably, the GH grade is a great start. Parker made 607 Parker GH 16ga. guns with Parker Special Steel barrels, and only about 236 with 28” barrels and ejectors. Be aware that most GH guns you see are Damascus barreled guns which hold a much different value in the marketplace. This handsome Parker GHE, sn158832 built in 1912, has all original factory parts and matching serial numbers, and is in top shape. This gun had the action stripped to the smallest parts, Ultrasonic cleaned and scrubbed all parts to shiny metal, inspected all parts for integrity and function, lubricated and reassembled, making this a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, a $450 service in our shop. VFI CERTIFIED GUNS have a 90-day mechanical warranty. Early American 16ga. guns were short chambered for 2 9/16” shells. PRESENTLY IT IS DIFFICULT, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE, TO FIND 2 ½” 16GA. SHELLS. BECAUSE OF THIS, VFI GUNSMITHS HAVE CAREFULLY MEASURED THE BARREL WALL THICKNESS AHEAD OF THE CHAMBER HAVE LENGTHENED THE CHAMBERS TO 2 ¾” AND EXTENDED THE FORCING CONES TO 1 ½” TAPERS SO THAT YOU CAN SHOOT MODERN 2 ¾” FIELD LOADS THROUGH OUR GUNS. This is a $440 service in our shop. Modern chambers and long forcing cones make for softer recoil and better patterns. Other important factors for a smart purchase are the condition of the metal, screws, wood, and bores. This little Parker scores high in all areas. AND, we have a Parker Gun Collectors Association letter documenting the gun shipped just the way it is, and was sold by the famous Parker salesman duBray that is included in the sale and photographs. We provide the most comprehensive photography and specifications in the marketplace, information that allows you to make a good choice. Just remember, nowhere is it more apparent than in the gun world…you get what you pay for! Look closely at the photos and you will see beautifully figured wood, perfect checkering, no cracks, and a VFI hand-rubbed oil finish done to perfection ($850 cost in our shop), and great stock dimensions terminating in a Dogs Head buttplate. The 28” Parker Special steel barrels are tight on face, with excellent bores choked M/F, clear sharp lettering and rib matting, and ribs tight. The action retains 60% factory case color (fading), near perfect screws, top lever right of center, and typical Parker faded trigger guard. THIS IS A GORGEOUS PARKER! There is over $2400 of restoration work already done to this gun to make it as good as it can be. If you want an upland gun you can rely on, buy one that is field ready and can safely shoot modern, available field loads. See the specifications below. SHE NEEDS NOTHING BUT A DATE WITH THE UPLANDS OR CLAY TARGETS. Thanks for looking.
