Time for a new Parker for your sporting clays this summer and the upland season coming up, but how to choose?  There are many available and more than the price should influence your decision.  You want a gun that will serve your needs, function properly without letting you down or costing you more money on repairs, and a gun that looks good and makes you proud. From an investment/desirability standpoint, finding a Parker that is original factory finishes and high condition for a good price should be another deciding factor.  And, just as importantly, buying a gun on line is a gamble, so buying from a well-known expert with a stellar reputation in the vintage American double gun business just makes sense.  Many of these fine vintage guns are a box of shells away from an expensive visit to the nearly non-existent double gunsmith.  Buying just any Parker is not the best idea.  This fine Parker, sn228963 made in 1928, is a very rare find in that it is “as found” and retains 97% factory blue, 75% factory case color, excellent screws, perfect wood-to-metal fit, barrels tight on breech face and hinge pin like a new gun, no cracks or repairs to the wood…just a perfect example of a fine Parker VH in high condition.  PRESENTLY IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIND 2 ½” 16GA. SHELLS. BECAUSE OF THIS, VFI GUNSMITHS HAVE CAREFULLY MEASURED THE BARREL WALL THICKNESS AHEAD OF THE CHAMBER AND HAVE LENGTHENED THE CHAMBERS TO 2 ¾” AND EXTENDED THE FORCING CONES TO 1 ½” TAPERS SO THAT YOU CAN SHOOT MODERN 2 ¾” HEAVY FIELD LOADS THROUGH THIS GUN WITH BETTER PATTERNS AND NOTICEABLY LESS FELT RECOIL. This is a $360 service in our shop. There are a LOT of Parker VH 16ga. guns for sale, only a few retaining lots of factory condition and have not been buggered up or otherwise made less desirable by the addition of a pad, poorly done restorations, or replaced parts.  Examine the photos and details closely and you will notice the superior wood to metal fit, superb factory checkering, original dogs head buttplate, awesome shooting dimensions, factory original bore diameter and wall thicknesses, all setting it apart from the others.  Additionally, VFI staff have completely gone through the mechanics and function of this Parker to guarantee it is in proper safe and functioning condition complete with a 30-day mechanical warranty.  This Parker 16ga. is on a #1 frame but weighs in at a very light 6lbs.4oz. and balances perfectly between the hands.  Most Parker 16ga. guns weigh 1/2lb. more!  A finer Parker upland gun you will not find at this price.  Just a few light handling marks and freckles on the barrels from use in the field.  Thanks for looking, and you should take this Parker for a hunt!
