Mauser Modelo Argentino 1891 7.65x53mm – 1893, LOEWE, BAYONET

Vintage Firearms is pleased to present this Mauser Modelo Argentino 1891, one of the highest regarded Mauser Variants. In the late 19^th century Argentina began the process of modernizing its military arms in 1886, after ordering 180 thousand rifles and 30 thousand carbines chambered in 7.65×53mm from Mauser for the purpose of replacing the by then outdated single-shot Remington Rolling Block rifles. These rifles designated the Modelo 1891 and produced by Ludwig Loewe and later DWM, rifles remained in police service up into the 1960s. Additionally Peru acquired around 30,000 rifles from Argentina and Germany, after Argentina was unable to pay for them. Which potentially served as a discreet way to support Peru amid shared tensions with Chile, these rifles originally bared the Argentine crest but were returned to Berlin for removal. This example, serial number D1212, was manufactured in 1893 by Ludwig Loewe & Company, and comes with an 1891 pattern bayonet. The 29” barrel, retains 98% factory finish, a bore that rates 7/10, the receiver and bolt retain 85% factory finish, and has had its crest removed. This rifle has matching serial numbers on the barrel, receiver, bolt, stock, magazine, and cleaning rod. A great choice for any militaria collector and are just a blast to shoot!
