| General Specs: Ruger, 1986, .38 Special, 35oz. 4″ Serial Number: 161-56212
In the late sixties Ruger started to design their first double action revolver. The gun was to compete in a market historically dominated by Smith & Wesson’s Model 19 and the Colt’s Trooper. Ruger’s new offering was launched in 1971 and named the “Police Service- Six”. Intended for law enforcement and security use, the revolver was soon adopted by citizens for personal protection. The gun is known to be extremely robust and overbuilt. It is milled out of billet stainless steel and given a brushed finish. This strength has earned the Ruger Police Service– Six an enviable reputation as an almost indestructible revolver. This example, Serial number 161-56212, manufactured in 1986. The gun offers a very smooth double action braking at 11+lbs, and a similar smooth and crisp single action breaking at 4.5lbs with little take-up and no overtravel. The gun shows a few handling marks on the frame; the grips are in excellent condition with only some minor scuffs at the base. Furthermore, the revolver is fitted with a transfer bar safety that ensures that a round will not be fired unless the trigger is pulled completely to the rear, which allows the gun to safely hold a full six rounds. The Ruger Police Service- Six became the basis for all Ruger double action revolvers to follow. They remain an easy-to-own, powerful revolver, ideally suited to personal protection. With its stainless-steel finish and elegant walnut grips this revolver will look good while doing its duty. Have a look at the detailed specifications and pictures below. Thanks for looking!
