The Model 1894 was Remington’s first hammerless double barrel offering.  B Grade guns were the first grade with engraving and upgraded walnut.  This example, produced late in the year 1900, shows off excellent checkering on a beautiful piece of honey colored walnut that has nice gain lines and a fair amount of quilting, especially on the right side of the buttstock.  The receiver retains 96% of its factory case color, which is quite vibrant except in a few thinning, but still visible areas at hold points.  The engraved trigger guard has worn to a nice patina on the long tang but retains 75% of its factory blue overall.  The 30” Damascus barrels steal the show, with a vibrant and consistent pattern with only a few blemishes.  The bores are a 9.5 out of 10 with chokes ideal for incoming birds with LF/IM constrictions. The fully matted top rib is roll stamped with –Remington Arms Co Illion NY USA –.  The top lever sits slightly right of center, the auto-safety, double triggers, and ejectors all function properly. The screws are in superb condition, wood to metal fit is excellent, and the widows’ peak buttplate features checkering and the Remington Arms Co. Logo. In addition the action and forend has been stripped and Ultrasonic cleaned, scrubbed to clean metal, inspected all for function and integrity, lubricated and reassembled, This is a $450 service in our shop.  Please see the last three photographs documenting the guns internals. This classic American double has a place in any collection and will make the owner proud as they put rounds down range with a 126-year-old shotgun that has many years of service remaining.
