Vintage Firearms Inc is pleased to offer this clean, delightful, lightweight and affordable upland gun from AyA, one of Spain’s premier gunmakers well known the world over for making solid, well finished guns. From the AyA website: The N° 3 has been AYA’s standard boxlock design since 1960. It is modelled on a Westley Richards boxlock action, brought to Spain by the King brothers. The Anson & Deeley action, the most famous of all boxlock designs, was created by two employees of Westley Richards in 1875, and ever since, Westley Richards guns have defined boxlock elegance. This fine upland gun is an AyA No. 3, serial numbered 467585 built in 1977, remaining in near new condition. Weighing just 5 pounds 4 ounces, this handy side-by-side is balanced dead on the hinge pin. The 27″ barrels are of the chopper lump design, long heralded as the very best method of joining the barrels and utilized mostly in “BEST GUNS” from the likes of Purdey and Holland & Holland. The barrels are tight on face and hinge, have mirror bores, tight ribs, 99% factory blue, and are choked Improved Mod and eXtra Full; if you would like the chokes altering to your preference Vintage Firearms can alter chokes within a few days or purchase, cost is $180 per barrel, we alter chokes the traditional way-from the breech end using a methodical, slow and careful honing which results in a perfect concentric choke. The receiver retains 99% vivid factory bone and charcoal case color. The action has hand engraved borders and flourishes of scroll engraving around the screws and pins and is in perfect mechanical condition with crisp double triggers, auto safety and excellent screws. The European Walnut shows more figured wood grain than most No.3 and No.4’s, it has hand cut flat top checkering, and a checkered butt finished with a hand rubbed oil finish. Length of pull is 14 3/8”. These are known to be highly reliable guns, natural pointers, and a joy to handle. This AyA Model 3 28 gauge is priced affordably for a hand-engraved, hand-checkered gun-what’s not to like? Ideal for the upcoming upland and clays season. VFI gunsmiths can make alterations to fit your needs with no waiting in line. See specifications below. Thanks for looking!
