Beginning with an idea from Bill Ruger in the 1970’s that the American shooter would love to get their hands on an American made over/ under Mr. Ruger began the journey to produce such a gun. In 1977 it was ready, the Ruger Red Label was introduced to the world in 12 and 20ga configurations and chambered for 3″ shells. Ruger had invested in advanced machinery to manufacture the shotgun and this allowed Ruger to produce machined receivers from solid billets at a competitive price. From its beginnings the Ruger company had stressed mechanical innovation and safety and these shotguns soon became prized for their sturdy construction, incredibly tight lockup and longevity. This example, serial number RL20-00583, produced by CSMC in 2026, is almost in as new condition, having maybe only a box of shells shot through. retaining 99%+ factory finish on all parts. The 30” barrels feature a vented rib with a red front bead, mirror bores, and 3” chambers for 20-gauge shells. A tang-mounted selector allows the shooter to choose which barrel fires first, while timed ejectors provide fast reloading. With trigger pulls measuring 4.0 and 4.3 lbs., the result is a quick-handling, well-balanced gun. Included with this Red Label are its hard case, sock, manual, choke tool, and screw-in chokes. The Ruger Red Label’s MSRP is $3,299.00, buy this used Red Label now for $2,350.00 and spend the rest on shells! Have a look the detailed specifications and pictures below. Thanks for looking!
