The quintessential American rimfire pistol. Designed by John Moses Browning and finalized by Colt’s engineers F. Chadwick and G. Tansley, the Woodsman was first introduced in 1915 and was to be in production in various forms until 1977. The pistol was the first really successful semi-automatic .22 rimfire gun to be offered, earlier attempts had been problematic, but Mr. Browning got it right by using an angled magazine to ensure the rimmed cartridge would not ‘rimlock’ onto its predecessor. The Woodsman has remained a favorite with shooters and collectors since its introduction. This example serial number 207078-S, manufactured in 1964 by Colt, comes with two mags and is in excellent condition retaining 98%+ factory finish and a mirror bore. It’s fitted with walnut target grips with thumb rest, and the target trigger is exceptional and breaks cleanly.
