| General Specs: Mauser, 1939, 9mm, 32oz. 4″ Serial Number: 9185t
Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer the iconic Luger P.08, prized by allied soldiers in both World Wars and has remained ever enduring in pop culture since. Adopted by the German military in 1908, the P.08 Luger became one of the most recognizable sidearms of the twentieth century, noted for its distinctive toggle-lock action combined with sleek profile. Its fine machining and precise handling helped earn its reputation among soldiers and collectors alike, while wartime Mauser production examples remain especially desirable today for their craftsmanship, and historical significance. This example, serial number 9185t, produced in 1939 during Mauser’s brief transitional manufacturing phase, the pistol features the chamber date “1939” paired with the simplified “42” toggle code, while still bearing the earlier “Eagle/63” Waffenamt acceptance proof on the receiver. All external metal components are serial-number matching throughout, and the checkered walnut grip panels are unnumbered – the correct configuration for Mauser subcontractor supply during this production window. The bore is excellent, shiny with well-defined rifling. The receiver and barrel show legitimate wear, with some silvering edges. The mechanics function as expected and there is no play in the action and the guns tolerances are still tight, the trigger breaks crisply, overall, the gun feels solid. Included with this Luger is a complete field rig of holster, tool, and mag. The magazine is a genuine wartime German military armorer’s replacement, with aluminum base stamped with the Mauser manufacturer code “42” and an “Eagle/655” inspection proof. The holster is an authentic 1937-dated pre-war military hardshell leather holster bearing the “WaA145” inspector stamp. The holster had at least two owners in its history, with a name visible on the inside and a different name visible on the reverse side. The reverse side exhibits an authentic post-war “LK” (Landespolizei Kriminalpolizei) marking, indicating reissue for West German police and detective service circa 1947. Lastly an original, period-correct stamped steel military takedown and loading tool are included. A perfect addition to your militaria collection. Specifications and pictures are below.
