Fox Sterlingworth 16ga – 1928, PHILADELPHIA, 85% FACTORY CASE COLOR

$1,995.00

General Specs: A.H. Fox, 1928, 16-Gauge, 6lbs. 4oz., Chokes IC/IM, LOP 14 3/16″, DAH 3 1/4″, DAC 1 3/4″
Serial Number:  364935

A fine example of the classic Philadelphia-made A.H. Fox Sterlingworth 16 gauge, retaining an impressive 85% original factory case color and 95% original barrel blue. Weighing just 6lbs. 4oz., this is a lively, beautifully balanced American upland double with desirable 28″ barrels and versatile chokes.

The gun remains in excellent mechanical condition, tight on face with tight ribs, mirror bores, crisp double triggers, and sound walnut stocks showing only honest field wear. The original Fox buttplate remains in place, and the wood-to-metal fit is excellent. VFI has lengthened the chambers to 2 3/4″ and attended to the forcing cones.

A particularly attractive Sterlingworth with the condition, weight, and handling characteristics that make these Philadelphia Fox doubles so enjoyable in the uplands.
