Vintage Firearms Inc is pleased to offer this lightweight, upland gun from Ugartechea, one of Spain’s premier gunmakers well known the world over for making solid, well finished and affordable guns.  This gun is a Basque model built in 1989, it is serial numbered 190115. Weighing under 5lbs. 1/2lbs. this handy side-by-side is balanced ahead of the hinge pin. The 26 1/2″ barrels are of the chopper lump design, long heralded as the very best method of joining the barrels and utilized mostly in “BEST GUNS” from the likes of Purdey and Holland & Holland. The barrels are tight on the hinge and breech face, have mirror bores, tight ribs, factory blue, and are choked a very useful IC/M with 2 ¾” chambers, complete with ejectors. The receiver retains 99% vivid factory case color and is in perfect mechanical condition with crisp double triggers, auto safety and perfect screws. The European Walnut has straight figure and excellent hand cut checkering with double borders, the length of pull is 14 9/16”, wood to metal fit is superb. In addition to Urgartechea’s solid reputation this is also a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, meaning we stripped the action to the smallest part, cleaned all in the Ultrasonic cleaner, scrubbed each part and inspected all for function and integrity, properly lubricated and reassembled.  VFI CERTIFIED guns have a 90-day mechanical warranty (a $275 service in our shop). These are known to be reliable guns, and this one is nice and light and a joy to handle.  The Basque is priced affordably for a boxlock built by old school gunsmiths, what’s not to like? Ideal for the upcoming upland and clays season. Thanks for looking!
