| General Specs: C.G. Haenel, 9x57mm, 7lbs., LOP 13 3/4″ Serial Number: 12995 This capable rifle is packed full of desirable details. At the muzzle end of the half-octagon barrel we find an integrated, rocker-style day/night selectable front blade, and at the breech end of its milled integral top rib, a silver inlay “C.G. Haenel Suhl Germany”, the barrel has a mirror bore that rates 8.5/10. The hinged floorplate and follower is designed and machined in such a way that it makes me a little embarrassed for all the flimsy spring-style followers we see in guns that come through our doors! Dovetailed into the cocking mechanism of the bolt, you’ll find a Rigby-Style Rear Peep Sight, designed for quick sight placement and follow-up shots. There is a dovetail filler in the top rib that has been expertly crafted if you wanted to replace a more traditional rear sight. The stock has a handsome design, checkering, tone, grain, and cheekpiece, all with a hand-rubbed oil finish. Adjustable double-set triggers and sling swivels, and the controlled-round feed action all function just as they should. The star of the show is somewhat hidden on this gun, revealed in our stunning photos of the case color hardening on the action. You can catch a glimpse of the vibrant color with a look into the open action but it is best appreciated with the action out of the stock so please enjoy the accompanying photographs.
