The Colt Single Action Army (SAA Model of 1873) has always been synonymous with the American Wild West and an icon in Western movie genre. The collector appeal for Colt SAA revolvers has been strong and growing for decades, making Colts more valuable each passing day. This example, serial number 230323, produced by Colt in 1902, is chambered in .38 Colt, only 1300 or so SAAs were produced in .38 Colt. The 5 1/2” barrel retains 95% factory bluing with some holster wear at the muzzle and has a perfect 10/10 bore. The receiver retains 98% factory case color and is fitted with custom horn grips with two Buffalo nickels embedded – a fitting period accent and adding to the Western vibes. Everything about this SAA is correct, the serial and assembly numbers are all correct and where they should be, and the gun matches its Cody Firearms Museum letter. Colt Single Action Army revolvers have proven to be highly collectible, investment quality firearms for over half a century. This fine piece would be a welcome addition to any Colt collection.
