| General Specs: Dakota Arms, 1986, .300 Dakota, 7lbs. 11oz. LOP 13 3/4″ Serial Number: 0652
Founded in 1986 by Don and Norma Allen in Sturgis, South Dakota, Dakota Arms became known for its premium hunting rifles, particularly the Model 76, which combined some of the best features of the Mauser M98 and Winchester Model 70. This example, serial number 0652, manufactured sometime between 1986 and 1987 (during the early Don Allen era), is in superb overall condition, retaining 99% finish on the barrel, receiver, and bolt. The 23” barrel has a mirror 10/10 bore with strong rifling and is chambered to fire the potent .300 Dakota round which delivers ballistics comparable to .300 Weatherby Magnum. Its fitted with a capped pistol grip stock made nice straight grain walnut with fiddleback on the comb, and features a skeletonized grip cap. This rifle has spent some time in the field and has collected some scattered minor field marks – testaments to its past adventures! The receiver is tapped for a scope and is fitted with 1” scope rings. Included with this Model 76 are a set of Redding reloading dies and 174 brass casings for .300 Dakota – everything needed to get you started! Overall, a wonderful piece of craftsmanship and a perfect gun to take on your next big game excursion. Specifications and pictures are below. Thanks for looking!
