The A.H. Fox Sterlingworth is the best buy in the vintage American side x side market!  The Sterlingworth is the same gun mechanically as all other grades of the A.H. Fox gun, having the fewest parts and smallest action of any of its competitors.  The Fox gun mechanism is utterly reliable, the locking mechanism simple and efficient, the barrels and action made of the finest steels of the time, the wood finely fitted to the action, checkering well cut, and the balance of the gun was superb. This fine Philly Fox, sn102286 made in 1924, is an exceptional Fox as it retains 98% factory case color- vivid and vibrant with some light wear on the balancing point. The very desirable #2 weight 30” barrels show 99% factory blue, the bores are mirror bright, chambers are 2 ¾” with     1 1/2” long forcing cones done by VFI, a $360 service.  Modern chamber dimensions and long forcing cones make for safe shooting with softer recoil and better patterns, which benefit the shooter and preserve the integrity of these fine older doubleguns.  This gun is choked with screw-in Briley Thin wall choke tubes, a $600 extra option for this gun.  The screw-ins make this a very versatile guns for all winged game and for your clay target sports.  One gun can do it all with Brileys! In addition, the previous owner had sling mounts installed making this a great easy carrying gun for long days in the fields, if you would like these removing, please call to discuss. The action locks up tight with a lever sitting Way Right of Center, the screws are excellent and all correctly clocked, the wood carries its original factory varnish with a few field marks. The gun is balanced just forward of the pin and comes up quickly, the butt finish is factory original with a few field marks, terminating in a buttplate.
