Ishapore SMLE No.1 MKIII .303BRIT – 1944, STRIPPER CLIPS, SLING,

$750.00

General Specs: Ishapore, 1944, .303 British, 9lbs. 9oz. LOP 13 3/8″
Serial Number:  59189

The SMLE served as the standard British service rifle through both world wars. The Ishapore Rifle Factory in West Bengal began producing the pattern in the early 1900s to supply the Indian Army and became one of the main Commonwealth arsenals manufacturing the rifle. Ishapore continued making Lee-Enfield-pattern rifles long after Britain had moved on, eventually producing the 7.62 NATO 2A and 2A1 variants. This example, serial number 59189, produced by Ishapore in 1944, has matching serial number on the receiver, forend, bolt, nose cap, sight leaf and magazine (mag has been restamped). The bore rates 7/10 with strong rifling, the rifle retains much of its factory finish throughout, the stock shows expected military wear, and has an import mark on the right side of the receiver. Included are two 5-round SMLE stripper clips and sling. Overall, a great rifle, perfect for militaria collectors or your next trip to the range. Specifications and pictures are below.
