Jacob Sackreuter Barreled Deluxe 1888 Sporter – INTEGRATED RIB, SET TRIGGER

Vintage Firearms is pleased to present this fine sporting rifle.  The maker of the Gewehr 88 action is unknown (there are a couple markings that I haven’t been able to identify, maybe one of you will be able to help us know who built this great rifle), but the half-octagon barrel, at the breech end of its milled integral top rib, has a silver inlay “Jacob Sackreuter – Frankfurt A/M”.  It has a mirror bore and the rifling is in exceptional condition.  The sighting system features a one-leaf express sight at the rear, and an adjustable front post dovetailed into the integral rib’s front ramp; a fine piece of engineering and craftsmanship.  The controlled round feed action is smooth as butter.  The maker case color on the magazine housing, trigger guard, and on the action where it hasn’t been matted, is all strong and gives a unique and classy look.  The deluxe wood stock features a graceful cheekpiece, Schnabel forend, round knob half pistol grip, fine checkering, case colored and engraved screws, wedge key and embellishments, as well as a smooth, case colored smooth metal buttplate with nib, wood to metal fit is superb. Flip open the trapdoor on the magazine housing and you’ll find a reusable en bloc clip for easy loading.  Chambered in Patrone 88 or M/88, the predecessor to the 8x57mm cartridge, this is a capable and deadly hunting cartridge for the hunter who loads his own ammo.  Show up to hunting camp with a rifle that will have all your hunting buddies’ respect and admiration.
