Krieghoff Neptun Drilling – SIDELOCK, DETACHABLE TRIGGER

Sempert & Krieghoff drilling made pre-war in 1939 with 23 ½” Krupp Steel barrel in 12 gauge over 6.5 x 52R (same as .25-35 Winchester Centerfire and readily available…great cartridge!).  As you review the photos and description of this rare drilling, realize that this is the highest-grade drilling Krieghoff made before the war and this model was not produced post war.  There are other Krieghoff Neptun drillings that look similar, but they are not true sidelock gun but rather sideplated boxlock guns.  This gun is a full sidelock action that fires the shotgun barrels, with the thumb cock hammer for the rifle barrel that simultaneously actuates the rear folding rifle sight while cocking the rifle hammer.  Most notable, this rifle has the very rare feature of an easily hand-detachable, drop-out trigger group for the rifle barrel as shown in the photos.  The gun is in perfect mechanical order, being a VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  We stripped the entire action to the smallest part, Ultrasonic cleaned all, scrubbed the parts down to bare metal, inspect all parts for function and integrity, lubricated all and reassembled.  The barrels are tight as new on breech face and the hinge pin, bores are superb on all three barrels, no dents or dings, and the top rib is tight.  The trigger pulls are crisp and the set trigger for the rifle is functioning properly.  The full coverage game scene engraving is crisp and clear, the screws are perfect, as is the wood-to-metal fit.  There is a superb bullet cache in the belly of the buttstock that harbors 4 cartridges.  We restored the original wood with a hand rubbed Truoil finish and recut the checkering but did no other restorations on the gun. The factory barrel blue is 99%, and the action has a pleasant French grey finish. She weighs 7lbs. and balances right on the hinge pin, so this is a dynamic handling drilling.  The .25-35 WCF is a fine deer-size cartridge with very little recoil and is known to be very accurate.  Hornady loads a great 110gr. LeverRevolution round at 2425fps.  There are many other ammunition choices as well.  The gun is choked F/F and has the original 2 ½” chambers.  We can alter the chambers and chokes if you choose.  This is a very rare and valuable drilling.  The engineering in the removable trigger group is extraordinary and is clearly demonstrated in the photos.  We are offering this gun at a very affordable price, especially with the condition and removable trigger group.  You may never have the opportunity to own a Krieghoff with this feature.  Remember, this is a true sidelock action with the removeable trigger group and is a pre-war gun.  See additional specifications below.  Thanks for looking!
