L.C. Smith is known for their beautiful American double guns.  This F Grade Hammer gun is not a high grade gun, and there were a lot of them made, BUT it has beautiful factory finishes.  Over the years, it looks like it was put in a sleeve and left there, which left some spots of “frosting” on the trigger guard and barrels, now some would have restored the gun but luckily it’s not the case here, rather than throw the baby out with the bathwater, the original finishes were retained, now we can enjoy the look, feel and history of a gun crafted in 1912! The heavy 30” Damascus barrels have great integrity, 8.5 out of 10 bores, conservatively; choked Full and Extra full what a duck gun this would make.  The back action sideplates and entire frame retain essentially 100% coverage of the factory case color, with only a bit of lightening on the hold points and bottom of the frame.  The lower profile “C” hammers and top lever are also case hardened and retain much of their color.  The top lever lands way right of center on this nice, tight action.  The entry grade wood is in great condition, with nice checkering and fantastic wood to metal fit.  There are many reasons this hefty 10 gauge ought to be in your collection, but the smile on everyone’s face when you put it in their hands might be the best one.
