The Single Sighting Plane Rib was a feature available on L.C. Smith double barrels as a marketing effort to combat the growing demand for over and under and single barrel guns.  The shape of the single sighting plane rib, and it’s height relative to the barrels, essentially makes the barrels disappear; it’s ingenious and interesting.  This guns is ready for use, it has some wear on the original finish of the barrels, which have mirror bores.  The action is tight on hinge and locks up tight on face with the top lever landing just right of center.  The double triggers, extractors, and auto-safety all function as they should.  With fresh finish and refreshed checkering on the beautiful walnut stock, featuring pretty grain lines, eye-catching fiddleback, and a Silvers pad, this sharp Elsie is nice to look at as well.  The action has crisp engraving and 65% factory case color, faded in some areas, but vibrant in others.  This shotgun has been a steady companion to hunters since 1948 and is ready for many more years in the field.
