| General Specs: Lebeau Courally, 1960, 12 Gauge, 6lbs. 10oz., Chokes IM/F, LOP 14 3/8″, DAH 2 1/16″, DAC 1 1/2″ Serial Number: 43453,43454
Liège has long been one of the great centers of European gunmaking, and among its finest names stands Auguste Lebeau-Courally. Built for discerning sportsmen and patrons of the highest order, Lebeau-Courally guns occupy the same world as the best London and Continental makers: bespoke, elegant, mechanically refined, and finished with extraordinary hand work. Offered here is a true matched pair of Lebeau-Courally Model 108SC 12-gauge sidelock ejector guns, serial numbers 43453 and 43454, made in 1960 and presented in their two-gun motor case. These are not simply two similar guns. They are a true pair, numbered “1” and “2” in gold at the rib and top lever, built together with matching dimensions, engraving, configuration, and weight. The guns are marked and finished in the Imperial Extra Luxe style, and the quality is immediately apparent. The deep relief engraving flows from the breech fences into the sidelocks and receiver with a combination of floral, scroll, and sculpted detail. The lockplates bear the Lebeau-Courally name in gold. The trigger plates and guards are beautifully engraved. The screws remain superb; all carefully indexed and engraved to harmonize with the surrounding work. The Anson forend latches are engraved and gold-numbered, and each forend carries the gold Lebeau pigeon-and-crown emblem worked into the elegant borderless checkering pattern. The condition is exceptional. Both 28″ barrels retain brilliant factory blue, with crisp rib engraving, sharp maker’s markings, and mirror bores. Both guns retain vivid factory case color, timed ejectors, crisp double triggers, and the kind of precise fit and mechanical feel expected from a best-grade European sidelock. The English stocks are beautifully figured, gracefully shaped, and finished with leather-covered pads. The wrists are notably slim and elegant for 12-gauge guns, giving the pair a lively and refined feel in hand. The included Lebeau-Courally letter notes that gun number 1 was originally furnished with an additional barrel set. The whereabouts of that additional barrel set are unknown, an interesting note in the pair’s history. The guns were originally ordered for an Italian concern, with original initials on the stock ovals later changed as the guns passed through subsequent ownership. What has remained constant is the care these guns have received over more than six decades. This is a rare opportunity to own a true cased pair of Belgian best guns in high original condition. They have the formality and craftsmanship of serious bespoke arms, but without excessive flash. Elegant and beautifully preserved, this Lebeau-Courally pair would be equally at home in a fine collection or carried by a sportsman who appreciates Continental gunmaking at its highest level. Please note: Vintage Firearms recognizes the appeal and importance of keeping a true matched pair together, and we would be pleased to help the next owner preserve them as such. For the sportsman who loves the idea of a matched pair but would benefit from more versatility, our gunsmiths can discuss carefully adjusting the chokes in gun two to create an “American Pair” — two matching guns with varied choke constrictions for different hunting or shooting pursuits. While we believe the pair is most compelling together, we also understand that not every shooter requires two guns, and we are open to discussing the purchase of either gun individually. Please Note; Vintage Firearms recognizes the beauty of a matched pair of shotguns, however we also understand that not every shooter requires two identical guns, if you are interested in just one of the pair, we are very open to discussing splitting the set and selling as individual shotguns. Each of these exceptional guns is for sale at $19,950, call to discuss at your convenience.
