Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer this Marlin Model Golden 39A, the oldest continuously produced firearm in the world. Annie Oakley of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West attraction reportedly used a marlin 1891 to put 25 shots through a jagged hole 36 feet away within the span of 27 seconds. Beginning as the Marlin Model 1891, this design was refined over the following decade, and was ultimately finalized into the Marlin 39A, was the first lever-action rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle. Production of the original design continued with few alterations until 1983, when it was updated and reintroduced as the Golden 39A. Despite these updates, the rifle remains fundamentally true to the original design with the additions of a crossbolt safety and Marlin’s Micro-Groove rifling, which greatly improves accuracy. Widely regarded as one of the finest .22 caliber lever-action rifles ever produced being one of only a handful .22 rifles that can be easily taken down. This example, serial number MR03750B, produced 2011 retains 98%+ factory finish on the receiver and lever. Furthermore, the 24” barrel retains 99% factory finish and has a mirror 10/10 bore.
