Mauser Modelo Argentino 1891 Cavalry Carbine 7.65x53mm – 1895, LOEWE

Vintage Firearms is pleased to present this Mauser Modelo Argentino 1891, one of the highest regarded Mauser Variants. In the late 19th century Argentina began the process of modernizing its military arms. Argentina ordered 180 thousand rifles and 30 thousand carbines chambered in 7.65×53mm from Mauser for the purpose of replacing their outdated single-shot Remington Rolling Block rifles. These rifles were designated the Modelo 1891 and produced by Ludwig Loewe and later DWM, the rifles remaining in police service up into the 1960s. This example, serial number A7686, manufactured in 1895 by Loewe, has the appropriate modifications to better facilitate use while mounted. The sling mounts have been replaced by a saddle ring mount on the stock, it has a Mannlicher style stock, a shorter barrel, and a straight grip stock. The bore rates 3/10, the barrel retains 20% factory finish, while the receiver and bolt retain 40% which are fading to a pleasant patina. This rifle has matching serial numbers on the barrel, receiver, magazine, stock, and bolt. A great choice for any militaria collector and are just a blast to shoot!
