Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer this Ruger New Model Blackhawk Bisley chambered for the potent .357 Magnum. In the early 1950s, Westerns drove strong demand for cowboy-style single-action revolvers, however, given Colt had since discontinued the Single Action Army. Ruger & Company entered the market with the .22 LR Single-Six in 1953, and its success spurred the development of the Ruger Blackhawk, first introduced in 1955 chambered in .357 Magnum. The Blackhawk sold well due to its simple, strong design. When .44 Magnum debuted in 1956, Ruger quickly produced a Blackhawk variant in the new caliber, which further led to the gaining popularity, as it was less expensive and more available than the Smith & Wesson’s Model 29. Since then, Ruger’s Blackhawk has been chambered for a respectable variety of calibers, from .30 Carbine to .45 Colt. This example, serial number 37-26829, manufactured in 1993 by Ruger, has the Bisley grip, trigger and hammer, making it easier to grip and easier to cock with one hand, ideal for target shooting. It retains 98% factory finish on the barrel, has a mirror bore, and the receiver retains 99% factory finish. The trigger and hammer have some loss of finish where the shooter’s fingers naturally sit. It comes with its factory box and associated documents. A great looking revolver for your next trip to the range, don’t hesitate before it’s gone!
