| General Specs: Savage, 1950, .250-3000 Savage, 7lbs. 6oz. LOP 13 1/4″ Serial Number: 535122
In the years prior to WW1 most hunting was done with lever action rifles, holding their rounds in a tube. The Savage 1899 (later shortened to 99) held a distinct advantage over other period guns as it utilized a rotary magazine, allowing shooters to use the more powerful high velocity pointed bullets for faster and flatter shots. This example, serial number 535122, built in 1950, chambered in .250-3000 Savage. It features controlled feed, remaining rounds counter which allows the rifle to keep track of the number of rounds remaining through a small window on the receiver left side and great safety mechanisms with loaded chamber indicator, a locked lever and action. Weighing in at a cartridge suitable 7lbs. 6oz. and the trigger breaking crisply at 5.5lbs. this gun is ready for the hunt. It retains 98% factory finish on the barrel, 97% factory finish on the receiver with it silvering at the carry point, and has a mirror bore that rates 9.5/10. This Savage 99 is fitted with American straight grain black walnut from its Savage labeled steel buttplate to its Schnabel conclusion. With its fast lever action, looking over classic open sights this rifle is a joy to shoot. Have a look at the detailed specifications a pictures below. Thanks for looking!
