| General Specs: Stevens, c1901, .22LR, 8lbs. 10oz., LOP 13 5/8″ Serial Number: 14821 This handsome Stevens Ideal No. 49 “Walnut Hill” is a classic American Schuetzen rifle from the golden age of single-shot target shooting. Built on the Stevens Model 44 action and correctly marked “49” beneath the forearm, it features extensive scroll engraving, a finely checkered pistol-grip Schuetzen stock, Swiss-style buttplate, elaborate loop lever with wooden palm insert, and double-set triggers with an exceptionally light set-trigger release. It is equipped with a desirable period target sight package, including a Stevens vernier tang sight with patent-marked rotating aperture eyecup and a globe-style front sight. The present 26″ .22 LR barrel is a later J. Stevens Arms Company barrel, making the rifle especially practical to shoot and enjoy today. At 8 lbs. 10.5 oz., it has the steady feel expected of a purpose-built Schuetzen rifle while remaining very manageable.
