| General Specs: Waffenfabrik Bern, 1910, 7.5x55mm Swiss, 10lbs. 4oz. LOP 13 1/4″ Serial Number: 339021
Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer a wonderful Schmidt-Rubin rifle, designed by Eduard Rubin and Rudolph Schmidt, produced by Waffenfabrik Bern to serve as the service rifle for the Swiss Armed Forces. The rifle features a unique straight pull bolt action which unlocks the action, cocks the striker, ejects the spent casing and then chambers the next round and locks the action all in one fluid pull/push movement. The earlier Schmidt-Rubin models were chambered for 7.7×53.5mm Swiss, however, upon adoption of the GP11(7.5x55mm) cartridge, the Swiss converted their existing Modell 1889/96 rifles to fire the new cartridge along with modernizing the furniture, creating the Modell 1896/11. This example, serial number 339021, manufactured in 1910 by Waffenfabrik Bern. It features a 31” barrel which retains 97% factory finish and has a mirror 10/10 bore. The receiver and trigger guard retain slightly less factory finish of 96% and 90% respectively. Overall, a unique Swiss bolt-action with some interesting history, a great choice for the militaria collector, or someone looking for a competent bolt gun. Have a look at the detailed specifications and pictures below.
