Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer a wonderful Schmidt-Rubin rifle, designed by Eduard Rubin and Rudolph Schmidt and produced by Waffenfabrik Bern to serve as the service rifle for the Swiss Armed Forces. The rifle features a unique straight pull bolt action which unlocks the action, cocks the striker, ejects the spent casing and then chambers the next round, and locks the action all in one fluid pull/push movement. The earlier Schmidt-Rubin models were chambered for 7.7×53.5mm Swiss but the 1911 models improved upon the action by changing the placement of the locking lugs allowing for more powerful cartridges to be used, allowing for the Model 1911 to be chambered in the more powerful GP 11 cartridge, more commonly known as 7.7x55mm Swiss. This example, serial number 407206, manufactured in 1916 by Waffenfabrik Bern. It features a 31” barrel which retains 99% factory finish and has a mirror 10/10 bore. The receiver retains 97% factory finish, and trigger guard retains 99% factory finish. This rifle also comes with its correct sling.
