Armi Fratelli Poli is a 3rd generation Italian maker of fine hunting guns, hand fit and made to old world standards.  The Opal Extra Model is a sideplated boxlock ejector gun with hand engraved banknote style scroll signed by engraver V. Temponi.  The engraving is expertly cut with shaded background and fully covers the action, border, and screws.  This gun even has a pierced top lever…a very classy touch usually found on the most expensive double guns.  The mechanics of the action are in perfect working order, fully reviewed by our gunsmithing staff here at Vintage Firearms.  The safety, ejectors, trigger pulls are all measured and working properly.  The 27 5/8” barrels with factory 3” chambers are tight as new on the hinge and breech face, have mirror perfect chrome lined bores, a tapered file cut rib, jeweled barrel flats, and 98% factory blue. With the IC/M chokes and chrome lined barrel you can shoot hard non-toxic shot through this gun without concern.  The wood on the gun is nicely figured Turkish walnut, fitted with perfection to the action, with perfect checkering and long length of pull.  This gun weighs just 6 pounds 1 ounce and balances nicely just a fraction ahead of the hinge pin…the perfect upland gun.  The Poli Opal Extra is A LOT OF GUN FOR THE MONEY, ESPECIALLY WITH THE FAR SUPERIOR HAND-CUT ENGRAVING, HAND CUT CHECKERING, AND HAND FIT ACTION.  This may be the best buy in the mid-priced market of fine side x side guns.  We have priced this gun affordably for such a well-made Italian shotgun from a known and respected maker.  The specifications are shown in the tables below.  Thanks for looking!
