The Browning Hi-Power is a military icon. Since its introduction in 1935 it has built a remarkable reputation for function and longevity. It is one of the most widely used military pistols in history, having been used by the armed forces of over 50 countries in conflicts from World War two to the present. It was one of the few weapons used by both Axis and Allied forces during the 1939-1945 conflict. Based on a design by John Moses Browning who began work on the gun in 1914, the design was finalized by FN Herstal designer Dieudonne Saive following Mr. Browning’s death in 1926. The Browning was famous for having a double stack magazine with a 13-round capacity, a significant advantage when most semi-automatic side arms of the period held seven or eight rounds. This gave the gun its name- High power- later to be shortened to Hi-Power. This very clean example was manufactured at FN Herstal in 1982, it is serial number 245PY43033. The gun is finished in Browning’s uncommon Satin Chrome, and shows 99% factory original finish. The bore is perfect. The gun does not appear to have been fired much, maybe just a test mag! It comes with the original Browning soft pouch, manual and one 13 round and one 20 round magazine. Browning has discontinued manufacture of the classic Hi-Power. There are copies but there is only one true Belgian made Browning Hi Power. The probability of finding such a notable Hi-Power are diminishing, so add it to your collection soon. The pistol ships with one 13-round magazine and one 20-round mag, its original soft cover case and a manual. Thanks for looking.
