Marketed as ‘Everybody’s Sweetheart,’ as well as ‘The Greatest Little Shotgun in the World'” at its introduction the sleek, fast handling Model 42 soon became a hit with upland hunters and Skeet shooters alike. The Model 42 is an icon in the ranks of Winchester firearms, made in the days of the highest quality control and hand fitted parts.  The Model 42 was a flawlessly produced little pump gun, chambered only for the diminutive .410 shotgun shell.  In the 30 years of production that ran from 1933 to 1963, just 160,000 of these fine guns were produced. This example was manufactured in 1954 and is serial number 110040, the gun is a nice, honest factory finished, unaltered, standard grade Field gun. It weighs just 5lbs 14 oz. It has a barrel with a mirror bore with a full choke and 99% original factory finish. The receiver has 97% finish with the finish going to a hand polished silver at the carry point, and as to be expected the guns furniture has a few field marks here and there, just character marks for a gun that has been on a few hunts upland and a few on the sporting fields too! With all original finishes and just the right amount of righteous field wear this handy pump can be carried all day without fatigue while hunting.
