This firm began its stint in 1906 and are still building fine British doubleguns at this date. Webley & Scott made more double shotguns than any other British firm and made guns that ran the gamut from simple field guns to beautifully engraved “BEST GUNS”. All the guns they produced are considered quality guns and have been well respected for over 100 years. This Webley and Scott Churchill, sn143346 made in 1973, is a delightful example of what the English gun trade is noted for…building solid, lightweight, well-balanced guns that function for decades with excellent, well-proven mechanics. THIS WEBLEY AND SCOTT IS A TRUE LIGHTWEIGHT! ORIGNAL FACTORY FINISHES ON ALL METAL AND WOOD, AND WEIGHS ONLY 6LBS. 2OZ. AND BALANCES JUST FORWARD OF THE HINGE PIN. BEST OF ALL THE FACTORY CHAMBERS ARE 2 ¾” AND THE GUN IS PROOFED FOR HEAVY FIELD LOADS AT 3 ¼ TONS! The engraving, wood-to-metal fit, checkering is all superior to the more modern renditions. Built when British guns were still hand engraved, checkered, and fit, this Webley and Scott has old-school value and has handling dynamics you just won’t find in more modern side x side guns produced today on CNC machines. She is an elegant upland gun as well, with hand cut English scroll engraving, vivid case color, and straight English walnut stock with nice grain, showing normal field marks, and 14 13/16” LOP to the smooth butt. Mirror bores choked Skeet and Modified and an exceptionally Smooth lever and perfect screws, this gun is mechanically sound. If you ever wanted an honest English double gun…the perfect upland grouse and woodcock gun, this is your chance. There are not many British doubles left that were hand engraved and checkered, hand-fit by the best in the business, still retaining factory finishes, that were actually built in Birmingham. Most labeled as such today are built in Turkey, Spain, or Italy and labeled with an English maker’s name. See the specifications and pictures below. We can alter the chokes or stock for you within a few days of purchase…if you need, please call to enquire. Thanks for looking!
