Launched at the beginning of the twentieth century, the Winchester Model 1907 is a rugged and dependable blowback-operated, semi-automatic rifle. It fires from a 5, 10, 15, or 20 round detachable box magazines. Firing an intermediate powered cartridge, the gun is very similar in size to the later Winchester designed M1 Carbine, however the 1907 fires a more powerful round- the 180-grain bullet moves around 1,850fps delivering approximately 1,370 fl.-lbs. of energy. The Winchester 1907 was issued to troops and in particular airmen, who used them in the early aeronautical battles of the First World War. They were mainly supplied to the armed forces of the United Kingdom, France and Russia. It was a popular rifle with law enforcement in the United States during much of its production, about 59,000 being produced. This rifle, sn 50375, is a late production example. Manufactured in 1949 and it features an example of the late “crescent style” cocking lever makes cocking the slick action easy and fluid. Its furniture is in excellent condition; the walnut seems to glow and has solid straight grain. The 20” barrel exhibits 97% factory blue, the bore is a mirror 9.5+/10 bright with sharp rifling.  The crossbolt safety, trigger, and cocking rod function smoothly, it is supplied with an aftermarket 10 round detachable magazine. This example is in great condition, apart from some wear on the serrated buttplate and the wood has evidence of field use. These guns are built like tanks, you can feel the quality in their heft, a good solid eight and a half pounds of Winchester wood and metal put together when guns were built to last. The Model 1907 takes down for maintenance by undoing the knurled bolt at the receiver. These elegant Winchesters are still a popular choice for hunters today. Vintage Firearms has a full and partial Box of .351Winchester ammo (91 rounds total) available for purchase at an additional cost of $225 for both, please call our store to inquire (ammo does ship separately and will incur its own shipping fee.)
