Exceptional craftsmanship and beauty are traits we have come to expect from English gunmakers, and William Ford of Birmingham, has lived up to those expectations with this beautiful matched pair of 20 gauge sidelocks.  The factory case color covering the fine-scroll engraved locks and receiver are given the added detail of a variety of polished and nitre blued pins and a small banner hosting the maker’s name.  The sculpting following from the bottom of the frame up around the sidelocks is exceptional.  The gunsmiths in our shop were admiring the detailed shape and fitment of the trigger plate into the bottom of the frame, pointing out certain areas that weren’t necessary, but just a flex on the part of the craftsmen at William Ford.   The tear drops carved into the wrist of the buttstock and very fine 28 lines per inch, double-bordered point pattern checkering, decorate stunning pieces of highly figured English walnut.  The chambers are in proof with 2-¾” chambers for 1 oz heavy loads.  The hidden third bite between the ejectors helps secure these actions tight on face.  A unique feature for a matched pair, Gun One is choked modified and extra full, and Gun Two is choked modified and improved modified.  Our gunsmithing department is happy to open these chokes to the buyer’s preferred constriction.   This pair is very well suited to late season upland game in the Eastern U.S. and just about any kind of bird hunting Out West.  Please review the detailed specifications and enjoy the photos of these exceptional guns, crafted in 1911.
