The Browning Superposed is one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs.  Produced in plain-Jane field grades to the most elaborately engraved and finely stocked shotguns ever seen, production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production stopped. This is a dynamic upland bird gun but equally at home at the club, with its handsome pistol grip stock, rounded frame, and slim field style forend that can be carried all day without fatigue.  This fine Superposed, was factory engraved and signed by Jean-Marie Debrus, it is exceptional! Any Diana Grade gun is going to be pretty, but there are some that stand out. This gun’s engraving has a special “depth” and liveliness to it with deep chiseled game scenes adorning the sides, base plate and trigger guard; use the zoom function on our photographs to dig deep into this artistic masterpiece! Liège-trained FN/Browning Master Engraver J.M. Debrus worked in Browning’s Luxury Arms department until his retirement in 1999.  This gun is in all ways a 99% plus gun, its metal and wood all retain original factory finishes, there are a few marks from being handled and admired.  Even the spot on the lower barrel that typically gets slide marks from removing the barrels shows very little wear, giving you the idea, this gun has not had many rounds through it over the last 56 years.  The Vintage Firearms team has gone over every aspect of this gun, and it is mechanically excellent in all ways and comes with a 30-day mechanical warranty, in addition Our gunsmithing department has tested this gun’s wood and THE WOOD IS SALT FREE AND IS NOT PART OF THE SALT WOOD DEBACLE.  We have certified this in writing and a LETTER OF GUARANTY goes with the gun at time of sale.  The wood on the gun is gorgeous highly figured French walnut with strong crotch feathering overlaying wavy mineral lines throughout the stock.  Checkering is excellent, wood-to-metal fit superb, and the screws are perfect…there is nothing not to love about this gun. The 28” barrels have perfect bores, choked IC/IM with 3” chambers.  The stock is longer than the factory offerings at 15” LOP (if you would like a shorter LOP VFI gunsmiths can make alterations to fit your needs with no waiting in line).  The lever is Right of Center and the gun balances perfectly on pin. Gorgeous to look at, and dynamic, a proven, reliable design that will only go up in value as you enjoy its use; and a quality investment for your estate. Don’t hesitate to make the call and put this gun in your collection.  The specifications are shown below. Thanks for looking!
