| General Specs: A.H. Fox, 1926, 16-Gauge, 6lbs. 5oz., Screw in Chokes, LOP 14 7/8″, DAH 3 1/4″, DAC 1 13/16″ Serial Number: 361917 A classic Philadelphia Fox Sterlingworth 16 gauge set up as a very appealing vintage upland gun. Built in 1926, this Sterlingworth carries 28” barrels, weighs just 6 lb. 5 oz., and has been professionally fitted with Briley screw-in chokes, currently IC/Modified—adding real versatility to an already desirable lightweight Fox. This is an honest field gun with plenty of character. The barrels retain strong blue with scattered exterior pitting and handling wear, while the receiver has largely mellowed to silver-gray with darkened traces of original case color. The wood remains attractive with good checkering, normal hunting marks, and a red rubber recoil pad providing a useful 14 7/8” LOP. Bores are mirror bright, the action and hinge are tight, and the double triggers remain crisp. For the shooter looking for a lightweight American double to actually carry and hunt, the combination of 28” barrels, sub-6½-pound weight and interchangeable Briley chokes makes this a particularly practical old Fox. |
