| General Specs: Franchi, 1955, 12-Gauge, 7lbs., Chokes M/XF, LOP 14 1/2″, DAH 1 7/8″, DAC 1 1/2″ Serial Number: 13106 An extraordinary example of Italian best-gun craftsmanship, this 1955 Luigi Franchi Imperiale Monte Carlo features spectacular hand engraving by Francesco Medici, one of the most celebrated Italian master engravers of the 20th century. His signature is discreetly concealed beneath the top lever, revealed when the gun is opened. The coin-finished, rounded sidelock action displays exquisite, full-coverage floral bouquets surrounded by incredibly fine scrollwork, extending over the beautifully sculpted beaded fences, top lever, long-tang trigger guard, and engraved forend iron. A gold-inlaid Imperiale Monte Carlo crest graces the forend, while beautifully figured walnut, elegant stock architecture, and exceptionally fine checkering complete this remarkable example of Italian gunmaking artistry. Built with Boehler Antinit demibloc barrels, an articulated front trigger, automatic ejectors, and a non-automatic safety, this Imperiale combines the refinement of a bespoke sporting gun with wonderful field-handling characteristics. At just 7 pounds, it is a beautifully balanced 12-bore. The barrels retain excellent blue and mirror bores, the action remains tight and centered, and the ejectors are properly timed with crisp trigger pulls. The gun remains In Proof. The Imperiale Monte Carlo is a world-renowned live pigeon gun due to its robust build meant to digest stout 3 ¾ dram, 1 ¼ ounce loads by the thousands without stressing the gun. Made to be fast to shoulder and balanced… the perfect upland gun for the upcoming seasons. An exceptional opportunity to own a Medici-engraved Italian sidelock of remarkable quality and artistic distinction. These fine Franchi Imperiale shotguns remain among the more underappreciated examples of mid-century Italian best-gun craftsmanship, offering tremendous appeal to collectors and sportsmen alike.
