From the AyA website: The N° 4 has been AYA’s standard boxlock design since 1960. It is modelled on a Westley Richards boxlock action, brought to Spain by the King brothers. The Anson & Deeley action, the most famous of all boxlock designs, was created by two employees of Westley Richards in 1875, and ever since, Westley Richards guns have defined boxlock elegance. This fine upland gun is an AyA No. 4 built in 1985, it is serial numbered 582218. Weighing 5lbs. 11oz. and balanced on the hinge pin, this high-condition, affordable bird gun is a hand-fit, dynamic side x side. The 27″ barrels are of the chopper lump design, long heralded as the very best method of joining the barrels and utilized mostly in “BEST GUNS” from the likes of Purdey and Holland & Holland. The barrels are tight on the hinge and face, have mirror bores, tight ribs, 98% blue, and are choked Mod and Full with 2 ¾” chambers, complete with well-timed ejectors. The receiver retains 99% factory bone and charcoal case color, it has hand chiseled borders and light scroll around the pins and screws and is in perfect mechanical condition with crisp double triggers, well-timed ejectors, auto safety and excellent screws. The European Walnut has handsome figure and superb hand cut checkering, the length of pull is 14 13/16”, VFI can alter this to your specification if required, please call to discuss.
