Here we have an amazing find for the gunner that wants the very best available in an upland gun…a Boss 20 bore side x side, sn8821 built in 1947, and still retaining most all a London quality restored finish.  The engraving is still sharp and clear, the screws are excellent, the bone and charcoal case color shows 99%, the barrels show 99% rust blue, and trigger guard 99% charcoal blue.  Weighing just 5 pounds 7 ounces and balanced on the hinge pin, the dynamic handling characteristics epitomize what a LONDON BEST should feel like.  This is ONE OF ONLY 260 BOSS & CO. 20 BORE GUNS EVER MADE.  Boss & Co. is the oldest maker in the London trade, having its beginnings in 1812 and operating as a privately held company to this day.  Boss only made one grade of gun…A BEST GUN.  From the Boss website:

“We would say from the outset that we make only one grade of gun and have never placed a second quality make upon the market. This policy has enabled us to retain the services of the finest workmen in London, and to give them continuous employment. The advantages attending the production of best work only are manifold. There is no opportunity for the work of inferior men to be utilised in the economy of the workshop, which is frequently the case when more than one class of weapon is produced.

The owner of a Boss & Co gun has the satisfaction of knowing that he has the best gun that money can buy, and that no one has a better gun. The Boss & Co gun has, therefore, always a standard value whether new or second hand. Our output is strictly limited according to the amount of first class labour available.”

The specifications can be seen in the tables below.  If you need a different LOP we do premium Purdey style leather covered pads or checkered butts here with our staff within a week or so of purchase.  We do a stunning job with our leather pads.  We can also bend stocks to meet your needs.  The gun is being offered at a very attractive price…less than many Boss 12 bore guns being offered on the internet today.  Cased in an English leather case, in perfect mechanical condition having been reviewed and gone over by the gunsmithing staff of Vintage Firearms.  This gun is sure to please its new owner and be a solid, investment quality firearm that will only increase in value as you enjoy its use.  Until you handle and mount a Boss 20 bore, you will not know perfection.  Examine the photos and specifications and you will observe the very best value on a Boss today or in the future.  Thanks for looking!
