After 3 decades chasing fine shotguns I still come up with guns I have not seen before. Here we have a very rare gun to see in the United States, a French made SUPERPOSED, or over/under shotgun, distributed widely in Europe but rarely in America. Made by gunmaker “BOUCHER” in the gun making center of St. Etienne, France, this is a very interesting, well-made shotgun. Proofed in 1958, this fine over/under is still in 99% factory original condition. Even though I haven’t seen one before, my experience allows me to clearly state that this is an expertly crafted, hand-fit, hand engraved, hand checkered high-quality shotgun with excellent mechanics and weighing an ultralight 6 1/4lbs. That is amazing for a 12 gauge over/under and balanced on the hinge pin this is a very dynamic upland gun with classic features that are hard to find in guns meant for the USA. The English buttstock, slender field style forend, double triggers, and ejectors are all feature coveted by upland hunters chasing game. The locking mechanism is very similar to the Krieghoff system, with a sliding bolt that slides over the top of the barrels to lock them in place. The gun is as new, tight on the hinge pin and breech face, the triggers are crisp, the ejectors strong and well-timed, perfect screws, everything in perfect working order. The 28” barrels have mirror perfect bores and are choked IC/F…perfect for pheasants and western birds, sporting clays, and basically anything that flies. So, how do you determine value with no comparisons? People that know guns often say “the gun speaks for itself”, meaning that we can examine the quality of the workmanship in the wood-to-metal fit, the hand engraving, the wood quality, and the features all combine to bring value. To find a hand engraved and checkered gun built this well in today’s market will find you spending well over $5000. We are selling this upland wand for a fraction of that price. See the specifications below. This is just in time for the pheasant openers in most states, so don’t hesitate to own this unique and well-made gun. Thanks for looking!
