The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs.  Produced in plain-jane field grades to the most elaborately engraved and finely stocked shotguns ever seen, production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production stopped.   The Pointer Grade was introduced in 1960, replacing the Grade III of the 1950’s.  The engraving pattern was nearly full coverage fine scroll and game scene vignettes, including the long tang trigger guard.  The wood was top quality walnut with notable figure.  The Pointer Grade was made in very small numbers (less than 100 long tang round knob Pointer Grade 12ga. guns, fewer than 30 two barrel sets) and is a highly sought after Superposed.  The Browning Superposed Pointer Grade 2-barrel set we show here, sn98616 built in 1962, is a VERY RARE OFFERING, WITH 99% FACTORY FINISHES ON THE METAL, 99% FINISH ON THE WOOD, AND 30” M/F BARRELS AND A SECOND SET OF FACTORY BARRELS CHOKED SK1 AND SK2.  Built in the most desirable era with the long tang round knob buttstock, field style forends, the original length buttstock terminating in a Browning butt plate, hand engraved and signed by FN engraver Charles Legiers, and cased in the period correct Hartman case, this is a stunning Superposed.  The barrels have perfect bores, are tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face, retain their factory marked chokes, both with double beads and vent ribs.  The action retains 99% of its French grey, clear sharp engraving, perfect mechanics and screws, strong ejectors and crisp trigger pulls.   THIS IS A “VFI CERTIFIED GUN”, meaning we stripped the forend iron and receiver to the smallest parts, ran it through the Ultrasonic cleaner, inspected all parts for integrity and function, then lubricated and reassembled (a $575 service).  VFI CERTIFIED guns carry a 90-day mechanical warranty.   The Browning Superposed is a splendid investment quality firearm and rare, high condition examples have been increasing in value notably over the last decade.  There are few opportunities to purchase such a gun that will serve you in the uplands, chasing waterfowl, and crushing clay targets.  Just review the photos to see a stunning Pointer Grade.  The specifications are noted below.  Thanks for looking!
