In the early decades of the twentieth century John Browning started to design something not available to American shooters, a high-quality, affordable over/under shotgun.  Sadly, this was to be his last design, his final legacy to the gun world- The Superposed.  As you compare this gun to others, keep in mind that the most desirable Superposed guns are the long tang, round knob guns built before 1966.  This Superposed, sn18234 with Grade 1 engraving was manufactured in 1960 before the change to the short tang trigger guard and the beginning of the “salt-wood debacle”.  Guns built after mid-1966 were prone to salt contamination and rust because of the way Browning cured their wood.  The marketplace has an aversion to the later guns with short tangs built from 1967 to about 1971. Production of the Browning Superposed was undertaken in Belgium, from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production ended.   This gun is in 99% condition with only a few light handling marks.  The gun is choked M/F and has the very desirable 28” barrels, a very sought after combination of choke and barrel length.  Pair this with the 3” chambers and you have the perfect pheasant gun just in time for your late season birds!  The barrels are tight on the hinge pin and breech face with the top lever well to the right of center.  The bores are bright, shiny and the ribs are tight.  The mechanics are superb with crisp triggers, strong and timed ejectors, and the safety works as it should.  This is a great Browning Superposed LONG TANG ROUND KNOB made for heavy loads and long shots.  What a great gun for pass shooting doves, or a waterfowl, sharptail, pheasant, or chukar gun for the open western plains and foothills.  This gem is just in time for the season that is upon us and will work equally well at the club breaking clays.  This is a gun that will provide years of flawless performance for the new owner. A classic Belgium Superposed with all the right attributes. See the specifications below.  Thanks for looking!
