Colt Diamondback .22LR – 1981, 4” BARREL, MIRROR BORE, 98%, BOX

$1,695.00

General Specs: Colt, 1981, .22 Long Rifle, 33oz. 4″
Serial Number: P17557

Introduced in 1966 the Diamondback revolver was a scaled down version of the famous Colt Python; it mirrored its magnum caliber brother in profile but was built on the smaller D frame (also used in the Detective Special). It was considered a Deluxe model and featured a vented barrel rib with full length underlug, a wide serrated Target hammer and adjustable rear sight. The Diamondback was offered in .38 Special and .22 Long Rifle chamberings and because of this was often used as a training gun for new shooters. Production of the Colt Diamondback ceased in 1988, today the models firing the .22 LR round are in increasing demand and for good reason- you can train with an accurate look alike of the Python for a fraction of the ammunition cost. This example, serial number P17557, produced 1981 has the desirable 4” barrel with a mirror bore. It retains 98%+ factory finish on all parts with some slight wear at the muzzle. The double action trigger retains Colt’s famous smoothness and breaks cleanly at 10lbs without stacking or overtravel, the single action breaks at 4.4lbs. The Walnut target grips contribute to a well-balanced and natural hold, with sights that are defined and easy to pick up you’ll soon be ringing steel at 50 yards and more! It comes with an unused period correct Colt wood effect cardboard box. A great little shooter to take to the range without fretting over destroying a collectable. For use as a training aid or just for some easy plinking this Diamondback has it covered! Detailed specifications and pictures are below. Thanks for looking!
