General Specs: Colt, 1957, .38SPL, 44oz., Barrel 7 1/2″ Serial Number: 15406SA
The Colt Single Action Army (SAA Model of 1873) has always been synonymous with the American Wild West and an icon in the wester movie genre. The collector appeal for Colt SAA revolvers has been strong and growing for decades, making special Colt guns more valuable each passing day. THE EXAMPLE WE SHOW HERE IS A FANTASTIC FIND SHOWING MOST ALL OF ITS FACTORY ORIGINAL FINISHES AND WEARING THE DESIRABLE 7 ½” BARREL. This gun was manufactured in 1957 and is serial number 15406SA. This example was the daily sidearm of a Montana Cattleman, and its life can be seen in its condition. The barrel shows all 96% original factory blue with some holster wear at the muzzle and some fading mostly on the left-hand side. The frame has 93% factory case color remaining with the top strap gone to a pleasing silver. The grip straps show wear on the back and front straps, as they should, and lots of factory blue remaining above and below the areas not contacted during use. This gun was a tool, carried and used daily, it just looks right. It is chambered in .38 Special which is the rarest of chamberings for a second-generation Colt. This SAA is mechanically excellent, with 4 distinct clicks on the hammer notches, crisp trigger pull, and the cylinder rotates smoothly. This is a real example of a Single Action Army with its usefulness written into its righteous condition, and that is cool! See the specifications and images bellow. Thanks for looking!
