Granite Mountain Arms of Phoenix, Arizona has been producing the finest Mauser M98 actions ever made, with certified alloy steels, most precise machining and tolerances, hand finished, lapped, and polished, case hardened, and sold to some of the best custom rifle builders in the country.  You can research this company on their website and the many custom rifle chat rooms.  You will find that Granite Mt. is highly touted as the smoothest, finest tuned actions you can build a rifle on.  As most rifleman know, the action is where accuracy begins.  For precision long-range shooting at steel or game, the shorter the action the more rigid it is and that equates to inherent accuracy.  This custom rifle was built by Gunsmithing Limited in Southport Connecticut by Mitch Schultz, 40 years in the business and known for quality master gunsmithing throughout the region.  The double square bridge short magnum action is precision fit to a 26” Krieger barrel mounted with New England Custom Gun Masterpiece banded ramp front sight and Masterpiece adjustable rear sight.  The square bridges are custom milled for precise removal and reinstallation of Talley Quick Detach scope rings.  The bolt is jeweled and operates as if on ball bearings…smooth and precise for quick follow up shots.  The rifle was built for a large man needing a long length of pull (14 7/8”, can be altered to your needs here in our shop within 5 days of purchase) using a stunning piece of European walnut inletted and checkered to perfection.  The shadow line cheek piece, steel grip cap, inletted rear sling swivel stud, ebony forend tip, and well mounted KICK-EEZ recoil pad finalize this stunning custom Mauser rifle.  The .300 Winchester Short Magnum cartridge allows for the rigid short magnum action and provides greater opportunity for the handloader to develop faster, flatter shooting ammunition than the .300 Win Mag.  If shooting factory ammunition the advantage still goes to the .300 WSM, but not by much.  Both are great cartridges for African plains game or anything in North America.  As Townsend Whelen once said, “only accurate rifles are interesting”.  That must be true for any honest rifleman, BUT BEAUTY COMBINED WITH ACCURACY IS WHAT CUSTOM RIFLES ARE ALL ABOUT!  This rifle is both and priced affordably compared to other custom precision rifles with the same quality of components.  The rifle was never delivered and remains in new condition.  See specifications below.  What a great gift for you or a good friend that would appreciate such a fine rifle. Thanks for looking!
