Holland & Holland made the “ROOK RIFLE” in fairly large numbers (around 5000 or so) for the purpose of hunting small game and killing rooks, a crow-like bird native to Great Britain, which at the time quite the pest of a bird. Holland & Holland produced several versions of these fine little rifles. Here we have a dandy little sidelever hammer gun, chambered in .295 Semi Smooth Bore. The wood is sound, and the 26” barrel has strong rifling considering the “Semi Smooth Bore” moniker. The barrel blue is strong with some light frosting in a few areas. The case color is quite vivid on the receiver. Octagonal barrel fit with a dovetailed bead front sight and three leaf dovetailed rear with one fixed leaf regulated for 50 yards, and two folding regulated for 100 and 150, all with express lines. Ammunition is difficult to find, but can be handloaded, information for which is all over the internet. This fine rifle comes with its case, oiler, bore snake, screwdriver, and two boxes of .300 Rook ammo (please note ammo will ship separately and incur its own shipping cost).
